ABOUT SAFE®

Creative and innovative, with feet on the ground. With a strong addiction to river water and a passion to learn and transmit.

THE BEGINNINGS

How we started

We started solving problems in the river in the 1980s, when people still didn't know what a throw rope was and paddled barefoot.

At that time we were not professional rescuers, but simple river guides (rafting, kayaking, canyoning) with an immense passion for nature and our Planet.

This enthusiasm drove us to explore the most remote rivers, on five continents. Most of our descents took place in inhospitable terrain, difficult climates. We have faced the monsoon in Himalayan rivers, great floods in tropical rivers, melting glaciers and snowfields in the Alps and the great rains of the Andes. Sometimes we were good and sometimes we were lucky, but at the end of each adventure we felt grateful to have gained one more experience.

The birth of SAFE®

In 1999, David Alemanni, together with Eve Eichenberger, decided to share this knowledge by starting SAFE®. The first European School of Flood and River Rescue.

Promoter of this project is Totem Adventurewhich has been active in the outdoor sector since 1992 with sports and adventure programmes focusing on living water disciplines such as rafting, kayaking, canyoning, hydrospeed and in the air with paragliding.

WHY CHOOSE S.A.F.E.

Distinctive elements of SAFE®

Rescue techniques are first illustrated in theory, then performed in practice, finally brought together and implemented in scenarios.
No to dogma, no to notional learning, yes to an analytical and critical approach.
We are for educational growth through confrontation. If anyone has different ideas to those we propose, let us check all the pros and cons together.
Every topic is analysed, discussed and demonstrated in great detail. We leave nothing to chance.

In order to keep the standard high and to keep up to date, the instructors, in addition to rescue work and teaching, attend conferences, seminars and courses all over the world.

For demonstration quality and safety, we use only the best technical equipment available on the market. (Petzl, Kong, Beal, Mammut, Cousin, Sterling, Conterra, Shockwave, Morice, Totem Adventure, Spencer, Hiko, WRS international....) to name a few.

Each technique is illustrated both using simple, easy-to-find and easy-to-use equipment and in its 'state of the art' state, using sophisticated equipment. This offers a very wide variety of options in rescue operations. (The best equipment is knowledge, ...)

It employs specialists from all over the world and all instructors work actively in rescue.
Our courses are in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese.

Because the standards we follow are highly dynamic, certifications last 3 years and we offer 6/8 dates each year for updates.
